RESEARCH & RE-VISIONING
“Research is creating new knowledge.”
The day that we are no longer on this earth is the day in which we stop learning, until then there is so much knowledge to gain. Continuing my education in Real Estate with the Master of Land and Property Development plays an important role in expanding my research and creating new knowledge. Each assignment has tasked students to learn new skill sets, vocabulary, development processes, and to challenge their mindsets. Our skilled professors teach us that the development process is iterative and there is no straight shot to the finish line. Each time we hit a roadblock, “we must go back to the drawing board”.
This has proven true during my final capstone project in LDEV 688, which has not yet been complete. We were given a site, located near the new Texas A&M RELLIS Campus. Texas A&M University is expecting at least 25,000 engineering students by the year 2025. Thus, our professor tasked us with creating a development that best suits the needs of the site, its surroundings and the demographics within the market area. Tri Partners Development, LLC., the name in which we chose for our team, has been through countless revisions to find the single-best use for the space. Considering the prime location, along with the projected growth, we expect our final product to be a multi-functional asset containing: retail, restaurant, hospitality and service space to accommodate the soon-to-be high demand in the area. *Completed project to come.
However our LDEV 671, taught by Bentley Scott, allowed me to create tangible projects which allowed me to research, re-vision & create new knowledge along the way. Through various MLPD classes we were tasked with writing reflections, and research papers. These assignments helped align my interests while enhancing my ability to conduct viable research and re-vision my thoughts and opinions clearly. Below you can view my academic review & critique of Cradle to cradle: Remaking the way we make things. This academic review required researched, clear and concise thoughts. Additionally, below, you can find a report over on financial & economic advantages of Sustainable Innovation & Design. Through my research, readers can obtain pertinent information on how important sustainable design can be to the economy based on various aspects of research and case studies.
