“[A] sense of place is the lens through which people experience and make meaning of their experiences in and with place.” - Jennifer Adams

ROOTED IN PASSION. DRIVEN BY CHANGE.

My philosophy is simple: Create lasting places which evoke a positive sense of place.

Passion consistently drives who I am. Through my passion to explore, travel, and experience new sights, I was able to gain a better understanding in sensing place. Often times, after we have experienced a new place we are left with many feelings. Enjoyment, boredom, amusement, or even displeasure. With each emotion comes reason as to why we feel a certain way. Why is it that we sense place negatively?

The way that our built environment is designed, determines our response to space. Just as a convoluted, five-lane highway is not an ideal space for a bicyclist, a dark, stuffy warehouse is not a welcoming office environment. Repeatedly, we find spaces which have been constructed by those who have never had to use such a space, therefore places are lacking in functionality and identity.

The spaces, places & built environments in which we inhabit shape who we are. Thus, we must create spaces which can quickly adapt to our ever-changing society. Many spaces cater to a specific gender, location, income level, age, or all of the above. In the past, humans have had to adapt to their spaces. However, redesigning a space which adapts to its users is quintessential.

Through education, research, and travel, I am determined to leave a lasting impression on my built environment. A legacy for my family, my friends, and my future children. I strive to deliver new, inviting, adaptable and cathartic spaces.
